The Texan sky is something else. It's rich and deep, and mind-bogglingly expansive. On the night we arrived we drove for an hour in the pitch-dark through a torrential thunderstorm. As the forks of lightning cracked all around us the sky lit up bright purple and we could see for miles and miles.
