Dad and the girls were in town this week. On Tuesday we had a fun day in Bournemouth in the rain. Finn was mesmerised by the seagulls on the pier and repeatedly said what we thought were his first intelligible words: "Bir, bir, bir".I wanted to produce for him an old-fashioned, grainy-film, black and white photograph of him with his grandad, the same style of image my gran specialised in making of me with my grandad when I was a boy. Those old framed prints are still on the wall of my grandparents' house in Ravenstonedale and I can never walk past without stopping and studying them.
